Pulwama attack anniversary:
Tributes to martyred CRPF men
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in paying tribute to the 40 CRPF personnel killed in a terror attack in Pulwama a year ago and said India will never forget their martyrdom. Modi said the slain security personnel were “exceptional individuals” who devoted their lives to serving and protecting the nation.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid his homage to the Brave-hearts of attack.. “I pay homage to the martyrs of Pulwama attack. India will forever be grateful of our Brave hearts and their families who made supreme sacrifice for the sovereignty and integrity of our motherland,” tweeted Amit Shah.
Art to pay tribute!
In a beautiful gesture, Padmashri award winner and sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created a sand art to pay tribute to CRPF soldiers. Taking to Twitter, Pattnaik paid homage to the jawans by posting a picture of his sand art at Puri Beach in Odisha. “Salute our martyrs of Pulwama attack. Jai Hind!!” he wrote.
‘Be brave enough to die death of martyr’
Former cricketer and BJP lawmaker Gautam Gambhir paid his tribute.. “Let us all be brave enough to die the death of a martyr. The sound of bullets still echoes in our ears, the wounds still hurt like they are fresh. Salute to the supreme sacrifice of our brave hearts. Jai Hind #PulwamaAttack,” Gambhir tweeted.
 What had happened?
Around 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives when a suicide bomber of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) rammed his explosive-laden vehicle on into a CRPF convoy on Srinaga Jammu national highway.
How India responded
Nationwide protests erupted against the dastardly terror attack even as the country bid goodbye to its brave-hearts. Leaders across the party lines and civil society condemned the attack and called for an appropriate response.
Days after the attack, the Indian Air Force on February 26 carried out multiple aerial strikes at JeM terror camps in Pakistan’s Balakot, killing a “large number” of terrorists and destroying their infrastructure.
